You only have to have been reading AMP3’s site for a while to realise that we’re long-term fans of iRiver’s products. They have some great stuff out and in the pipeline and at the forefront is the P7.
Smaller than you’d think (barely bigger than an iPhone) but with the full face given over to its screen, it has that ideal combination of pocket-friendliness with real space to watch movies on.
The User Interface has created a lot of headlines and we find it a really simple way to do it differently. We applaud iRiver for creating something that doesn’t just slavishly copy the norm, but actually tries to do it better. We’re sure you’ll agree that when you try it out and realise it is different, that it’s better as well!
Flash memory is also key – the days of heavy, fragile and power-sapping hard drives are over, in our opinion and iRiver cleverly gives you microSD expandability to add to the onboard capacities.

With the boundaries blurring between what constitutes a netbook and a laptop, it still seems unfair to call it just a netbook. It does have a nice small case, to fit in most bags, but it has enough power for most people’s everyday laptop use. It ships with a full version of Windows XP and even has Lotus office software, image editing software and a full security suite pre-installed. Archos are, of course, well known as a media player specialist and they include some great video and audio software, to ensure you’re never bored!

Well, we don’t often go into celebrity news here on the AMP3 Newsletter, but we thought you might be interested to learn that U2’s Guitarist, The Edge, recently bought 10 of these great little personal speakers, for his use - he was so impressed when he heard them for himself!
